Description
Summary:For conventional cell culture study, rigid, planar 2D surfaces are often used. However, 3D scaffolds with tissue-like environment is more favored in a physiological scenario. The monodisperse colloidal particles play an important role in the fabrication of 3D scaffolds. This report will present a method to fabricate homogeneous colloidal polystyrene (PS) particles. Emulsion method is used by dissolving polystyrene into a mixture of certain organic solvent, and a simple fluidic device is applied to produce homogeneous particles. Magnetic stirring method is also used to allow the partition of PS particles from the organic solvent. The methods and results of ICCs made from the commercialized PS particles will also be presented. In addition, this report will show the annealing results for PS particles and the optimized annealing condition for a similar-function particles made from Polycaprolactone (PCL).
