In Singapore, prostate cancer is the sixth common cancer (1988-1992, Singapore Cancer Registry). With the increase proportion of the elderly population and an improving life expectancy, prostate cancer is expected to become more prevalent with time. In addition, the desire to develop better forms of treatment of prostate cancer has been enormous.
