An evaluation of the effectiveness and adequacy of a company's training programmes to meet its needs for skilled workers

The issue of this project merits research because firms today spend a significant amount of resources on training to upgrade their workers. The objective of this study is to determine whether a company's training programmes are adequate and effective in helping the company to meet its needs. This study seeks to examine training adequacy and effectiveness by using survey, interviews, literature review and a modification of Donald Kirkpatrick's four segments of evaluation impact model. The· result of this study shows that PSA is committed in training its skilled workers. Besides, this study shows that the training programmes for Technical and Operations Departments are effective and that the Operations programmes are adequate but the Technical programmes are not adequate. Some implications of t he findings for the management are also discussed.
