Summary:Since the end of World War 2, the Cross-Strait relation has become a hotly discussed issue in both political and academic field for its vital importance for not only China and Taiwan, but also the international world. Many studies have been done from historic, economic and international relations' angle, however, culture identity of Taiwanese especially during recent years is a rather untouched field. This paper intends to explore the currently forming new Taiwanese culture identity and discuss its impact in shaping the relationship between China and Taiwan. It would be discussed by introducing the identity theory first to show the relationship between culture identity and national identity and their role in shaping Cross-Strait relation. Secondly the currently new forming Taiwanese culture identity would be introduced. Finally it would be explained why Taiwanese culture identity is forming.
