Description
Summary:The invention of automobiles has revolutionized the way of life for many. Cars have replaced horse-drawn carriages in our daily commute and freed people of the limitations of geography. It significantly reduces commuting time and at the same time provides a better and more comfortable ride. On the flip side, the huge increase in the number of vehicles on the road may cause road conditions to be unsafe. Many accidents are caused by human error and can be avoided with the enhancement of technology. Dedicated short range communications (DSRC) has been the topic of V2X research in recent years as a potential solution for the uprising accident rates. DSRC is a wireless communication channel specifically designed for automotive use. However, the signal transmission rate varies with the environment mainly due to urban settings. This report covers the model equation to solve for signal transmission loss between vehicles in an urban environment. The equation solves for the variables of small scale fading and large scale fading.
