Diffusion bonding of superalloys for aerospace applications

The diffusion bonding of Inconel alloy 718 to itself and to 17-4 PH stainless steel has been studied. Metallographic and EDX (Energy Dispersive X-ray) analysis were used to investigate the resulting microstructures for each bonding condition. The strength of the joint was evaluated by tensile test.
