Summary: | Over the past few years, International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) wishes to find a technology that is able detect and track the spin of Ping Pong ball and has tried various approaches (such as high-speed video) but has not found a good solution.
In this report we introduce a new solution, which is to use Doppler radar to detect Ping Pong ball with conducting printed markers. Studies were done using very expensive Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) in the initial stage and exploration of low cost Doppler radar design and development were done based on the studies of VNA.
The main idea of the final year project is to build a low cost Doppler radar to replace the expensive VNA for detecting the spin of the Ping Pong ball with the help of the high speed camera to capture the real time images during the table tennis competition. Which not only send the real time image to the audience while having the competition and also help the Ping Pong players to have a better understanding of analyzing the theory of the spin by study the images captured.
Firstly, project theory and designs will be introduced in the report, followed by the experiment testing results will be discuss in detail in the later part. Comparison and conclusion of the experiment results of the will be done in the last part of the report. |
