For the Final Year Project (FYP), two projects were done using the LabVIEW application - An undergraduate Year 2 Project module EE2073 Introduction to EEE Design and Project E-learning video series and the innovation of the Smart Window Blinds System. The Introduction to EEE Design and Project, EE2073, is the first design module for the Year 2 undergraduate students in NTU. This module consisted of both hardware and software for students to build and analyse an Automatic Volume Control of Audio Amplifier System. LabVIEW programming and the NI ELVIS II provides a digital control system to integrate with several hardware subsystem modules to construct the Audio Amplifier System. To enrich students’ learning, an E-learning video platform was introduced to help student better understand the use of LabVIEW programing and the NI ELVISII (NI Educational Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite) to analyse the amplifier system. The series of eleven videos will provide a guide to both the students and the teaching faculty throughout the 12 weeks of EE2073 lab session. Apart from that, the Smart Window Blinds System is also invented. This automated system aims to provide comfort for household users, especially for the elderly and handicapped. With the use of the Arduino microcontroller and NI myRio, the system is activated automatically to block out excess sun’s glare and in the case of rain. Humidity and temperature sensor, rain drop sensor and light dependent sensor were sensors integrated to control the control the operation of the Blinds and Winds of the Smart System. With the handheld remote control, user would have the flexibility to control the system to operate manually or automatically.
