| Summary: | This paper is a sociological study of the stress that Singapore teachers face in their work in MOE schools. Teacher stress in the Singapore context is a case of concern due to increasing teacher resignations, coupled with constant societal conversations about escalating teacher stress over the years. The stressors that Singapore teachers encounter; and the subsequent mediators they utilise in their experiences of stress are of interest. A short review of existing schemes made available by the MOE in helping teachers to deal with stress, and the teachers’ usage and perceived effectiveness of these schemes are also of interest. This paper may also provide some justifications on why some teachers continue to remain in the teaching workforce despite facing stress. |
