Summary:In this day and age of modern technology, the capability to locate and navigate objects or people in indoor settings has become progressively essential for many different purposes. Therefore indoor positioning comes to be the focal point of research and development over the years. It is clear that no particular technology offers the best solution, as compared to that of the satellite-based positioning system (GPS) for outdoor usage. Therefore, it is crucial to assess how different indoor positioning technologies match against one another and tailored them to the users’ demands accordingly. This report offers an outline of three currently available indoor positioning systems and evaluated based on comprehensive performance comparisons including accuracy, availability, update rate, coverage, robustness, costs.
