Description
Summary:UAV, the acronym of Unmanned Ariel Vehicle, also known as drone, is an aircraft without a human pilot onboard. Starting from military use in early 1900s, UAVs have become not only significantly important in military applications, but also widely used in other activities, such as research, agriculture and logistics. Quad-copter is one of the most commonly used category of UAV nowadays, especially for photography, transportation and even in human daily life for entertainment, due to its capability of vertical taking-off and landing, and moreover stable hovering. By adapting various autonomous navigation systems, outdoor and even indoor autonomous control of UAV can be achieved, which could help improve the productivity with fewer and simpler human operation. In this project, the author, together with the team, designed and built a quad-copter which could achieve fully autonomous control with indoor navigation by applying stereo camera and other essential components. The machine is used to take part in the Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition 2017 Category D2 Fully Autonomous Control.
