Description
Summary:Pseudomonas aeruginosa(PSA) plays a prominent role in infections, especially in chronic illnesses like Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and the immunocompromised. Rapid detection of PSA would play an important role in reducing mortality in such patients. Using in-house samples of PSA isolated from oral mucosa flora of a healthy young individual, we have managed to detect PSA with fast PCR, bringing down the time needed for PSA identification from at least an hour to less than 5mins. This is done with good specificity and sensitivity, paving the way for future applications in rapid bedside testing for the opportunistic pathogen.
