本文以早期在新马和香港发展的导演兼歌手演员的张莱莱个案,探讨其对“马来亚化华语电影”(以下简称“马化华语电影”)的贡献,并深入研究其导演的马化华语电影《马来亚狂恋》(以下简称《马》)。张莱莱执导的《马》是响应新加坡电影人易水在20世纪50年代末领导的“马来亚化华语电影运动”,即鼓励马来亚人制作本地华语电影,在演员、情节和场景上都具马来亚特色。这也同时反映当地华人对马来亚的认同和归属感,具有时代意义和政治意味。本文首先通过易水著的《马来亚化华语电影问题》探析“马化华语电影”的概念,之后从新加玻国家档案馆和香港电影资料馆对张莱莱的口述历史介绍张莱莱的背景,了解她如何从歌舞团走向影坛,导演《马》,并...

This paper will discuss Malayanization of Chinese-Language Cinema from Early Singapore versatile artiste Chang Lye Lye and her movie, My Love in Malaya. Chang also active in Malaysia and Hong Kong. She was influenced by Singapore filmmaker, Yi Sui who started the campaign of Malayanization of Chinese-Language Cinema that encourage local film studio to produce their own Chinese movies in Malaya, using only local actors and plot that reflect the life of Malaya. This also reflects the sense of belonging and identity of the Chinese in Malaya. Firstly, this paper will analyze Yi Sui’s On Issues of the Malaynization of Chinese-language Cinema to understand the concept of Malayanization of Chinese-Language Cinema and listen to Chang’s oral interview conducted from National Archives of Singapore and Hong Kong Film Archive to know more about her background and study how she started off in a troupe performance and leap to acting and directing career. This paper will also study the process of how Chang became the director, scriptwriter and actor of My Love in Malaya. The information of the movie will be gathered from Malaya newspaper, Sin Chew Daily and My Love in Malaya Special Issue from Hong Kong Film Archive’s collection to know more about its filming process and updates. |
