Description
Summary:This report represents ‘Get 8nough Sleep’, a health communication campaign targeted at individuals between 18 to 24 years based in Singapore. The campaign primarily aims to increase adoption of sleep-friendly habits and practice of sleeping between 7 to 9 hours daily among the target group. It was launched by four undergraduate students from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University in Dec 2017. The campaign began with a pre-campaign study to assess the current beliefs and attitudes of university students, and their receptivity to potential campaign ideas. Findings suggested that 77.3% of the university students were sleep-deprived, and sleeping below the recommended 7 hours of sleep. Whilst campaign events were ongoing, a qualitative programming evaluation was conducted to improve subsequent activities. Lastly, post-campaign analysis was carried out to check if objectives of the campaign were met and to evaluate the success of the campaign. An increase in the self-efficacy and behavioral levels was observed among the target audience in the post-evaluation campaign survey.
