Lee, Melisa Zhi Ling Muhammad Saidul Islam School of Humanities and Social Sciences DRNTU::Humanities In our contemporary societies, the factor of convenience is ubiquitous and we are always living in a culture where we consume convenience without knowing it. This research aims to ask the question of whether environmental behaviour can be affected by the convenience factor of online food delivery services. Using sociological concepts as the practice-theory, Bourdieu’s cultural capital theory, and Marx’s Metabolic Rift Theory, this paper tackles the paradox of online food delivery services. Through methods of content analyses and semistructured interviews, the conclusion drawn from this paper is that environmental degradation will still take place, but not entirely due to the presence of online food delivery services in Singapore. This is a preliminary and exploratory study regarding this topic of environmentalism regarding these online food delivery services, and has potential for further research in the future.
