Summary: | Accidents involving Personal Mobility Device (PMD) are on a rise due to the increasing number of riders riding PMD. These accidents could be avoided by having a system to notify the riders about the paths and roads condition ahead of them. This system could also aid riders to control the speed of the devices depends on which paths the riders were in.
As Singapore is moving towards Smart Nation, Smart PMD could be part of the movement and to keep the riders and pedestrians safe by updating the path condition through the Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) Communication Technology. This system allows the On-Board-Unit to communicate with others Road-Side-Unit (RSU). Also, RSU can transmit information to riders on areas which for this project are labeled as school zone. This will allow them to prevent speeding and cause potential accidents as many parents, children and teenagers might be around that specific area. The riders will be informed by the Human-Machine-Interface which will be received all the information and displayed in the rider’s Android mobile that connects to the On-Board-Unit.
The aim of this project was to connect the On-Board-Unit onto the Personal Mobility Device (collaboration with Schaeffler (Singapore)) to test the V2X radio communication in outdoor condition. So that PMDs can receives the information from the distance we allocated. Thereafter, to perform the specific tasks according to the specification. |
