In addition, the tedium in preparing supplement sample preparations and lack of processing power for high-throughput data of thousands of cells has plagued the current methods. This project seeks to investigate the feasibility of replacing traditional cell counting methods by developing a cost-effective, software-based smartphone application, Cell.ly, to solve issues present in today’s commercial cell counting methods. The use of smartphone application Cell.ly revealed that it could determine accurate cell counts from cell images. Our approach to developing this smartphone application holds the premise and promise of future cellular quantification techniques.
