Summary: | The field of strategic human resource management has seen a spate of studies over the years. The progress has been quite uneven, however. While there are numerous quantitative studies, there is dearth of qualitative studies. We think that the lack of a coherent theoretical framework in SHRM research can partly be attributed to few qualitative studies in the field. In all, we identify six emerging strategic HRM issues from previous research and employ a qualitative methodology to examine them. Three of the six issues are related to the three central organizational variables - structure, strategy, and culture. The rest of the three strategic HR issues concern three important HR variables — HR strategy, HR competencies, and HR outsourcing. |
