《红白囍事》是一部以弘扬中华传统文化与习俗为题材的新加坡华语电视剧。崭新的题材无疑为新传媒电视剧史增添了焕然一新的色彩。这部电视剧不仅有效地引发了人们对于中华传统文化在我国日益衰落的处境，而且也重新燃起了被摒弃已久的传统习俗与其中蕴含的伦理道德观念。尽管政府通过多样化的政策将中华传统文化宣扬给更多受高等教育的年轻人，从而避免传统文化在我国流逝，但效果并不佳。由于知悉电视早已占据了众多家庭的主导力量，对市民有举足轻重的影响，因此决定借此机会，透过这个桥梁，弘扬与强调中华传统文化的重要性。剧中的一景一物，如殡葬业在社会上所承受的歧视、人们亦步亦趋地追求名与利、盲目“崇洋”而不惜摒弃自身附有的文化和身份认同。剧情虽朴实却精准地再现了现代化所带来的余波，确实扣人心弦，最终也顺利起了抛砖引玉的效果。 New Beginnings is a local Chinese Language drama based on advocating Chinese traditional culture and customs in Singapore. Despite being a brand-new television series theme, New Beginnings has undoubtedly attracted the attention of many viewers. The constant display of preserving and propagating the importance of Chinese traditional culture and customs in Singapore has effectively influenced people of different age groups. It has also efficaciously rekindled the traditional moral values and etiquette within people that was previously forsaken and taken for granted. Over the years, the governments’ efforts has not been fully successful in promoting Chinese traditional cultures to the younger generations and preventing the decline and even loss of Chinese traditional culture in Singapore. Research have proven that television have the ability to inculcate and educate people way more effectively than other mediums, therefore the government decided to utilise this mass media to propagate the importance of Chinese traditional culture to the society. Every scene from New Beginnings, for example the discrimination suffered by the funeral industry in society, the pursue of fame and wealth, blindly worshipping foreign powers leading to the abandonment of their own identity and culture. In spite of the simple plot, New Beginnings was thought-provoking and accurately depicts the aftermath of Chinese traditional culture due to modernisation.
