Description
Summary:With the development of drone technology, drones has made its way into the consumer goods market and is becoming increasingly popular amongst the public for personal use. Personal drones can be used for a wide range of activities, ranging from taking selfies to fighting other drones in the arena. Ever since the first consumer drone was released in the market in 2010, drones has become more affordable, ranging from as low as $20 for a personal toy drone, to $2,000 for a high-end camera drone. This means that consumer drones has and will become more popular over the years as the technology develops to provide more entertainment value to the people. Accompanying this growth is the advancement of augmented reality technology. The development of augmented reality technology has empowered human beings to be able to create virtual objects that can interact with the real-world and vice-versa. By superimposing virtual objects into the real-world through a simple phone camera, augmented reality technology has allowed consumers to enjoy a deeper level of immersion and interaction with both the virtual and the real-world. This project therefore aims to integrate the two technologies together, developing an augmented reality drone game where players are able to learn to fly the drone safely in the form of an interactive game within the real-world. With the implementation of augmented reality, players will be able to visualise the safety precautions to be taken when flying a drone, allowing them to learn with visual cues and actual experience rather than through a standard manual.
