Effect of micro-RNA 150 and 885 on liver fibrosis
This paper analyzes the effects of MiRNA 150 and 885 on liver fibrosis. To establish if these MiRNAs are pro-fibrotic or anti-fibrotic, fibrotic expression of HSC Activation and Quiescence Markers are quantified after over-expressing the MiRNAs in LX2 cells. Our results suggest that MiRNA 150 is pro...

Summary: | This paper analyzes the effects of MiRNA 150 and 885 on liver fibrosis. To establish if these MiRNAs are pro-fibrotic or anti-fibrotic, fibrotic expression of HSC Activation and Quiescence Markers are quantified after over-expressing the MiRNAs in LX2 cells. Our results suggest that MiRNA 150 is pro-fibrotic due to the relative over-expression of classical HSC activation markers while MiRNA 885 tends to be inconclusive with inconsistent results. This paper also serves as a guide for cloning and testing MiRNAs in cells for any gene expression in-vitro. MiRNA 150 can be further studied on a protein level for potential therapeutic value to those suffering from Liver fibrosis. |
