This paper explores the use of RFID technology combined with a data management and analysis framework to enhance the management of supply chain. Based on prior case studies, literature review and industrial research, a framework of implementing a RFID based information management system is proposed. A case study is then performed on a local (Singapore) precast concrete manufactuer to propose a specific methodology of implementation. A subsequent analysis justified the financial feasibility of a RFID system. A discussion on how to facilitate greater rates of RFID technology adoption within the construction industry is also provided.
