Summary:It is not an exaggeration to say that it is the innovative advances in information and communication technology that has led human beings step into the twenty first century. Technology, particularly information and communication technology, has an enormous influence on every nook and cranny of our lives, including our pursuit of democratic ideals in the socio-economic, cultural and political arenas. While China still struggles with the complexities of capitalism and democrary, e-democracy appeared and has provided some light at the proverbial end of the tunnel. In light of this, it has become imperative for us to examine the current status of e-democracy in China, evaluate its meaning and function and thereafter explore its future.
