The cases are taken from a cross section of different industries: chemical products, construction equipment, steel supply chain, semi-conductor manufacturing, tele-communications, banking, stock brokerage, online communities, and on-line auction. The organizations range from new start-ups companies to large mature corporations to the government. The case studies focus on different issues such as information management, business strategies, online culture, new technologies, venture overseas, government initiatives, partner strategies and outsourcing. Each case study provide a background of the case (company), the challenges ahead, the decision(s) made and the consequences of the decision(s).The purpose of this book is to provide a glimpse into the use of IT for Asia businesses. This is an opportune time to understand and evaluate these organizations which provide a sample of similar organizations in their respective countries of operation. As Asia’s economy continues to grow, the need to use IT to improve business operations and competitive advantages will inevitably increase.
