The field observations were conducted at the mango fields in Lampang and Phrao, which are located in north Thailand, and in Okinawa, an island located in south Japan. In Lampang, the mango fruits are produced for processing and the field management, including irrigation and fertilization, is extremely challenging. The mango fruits produced in Phrao are exported and the field is managed well. In Okinawa, the mango fruits are produced in green houses. The soil water contents and soil physical properties in these mango fields are measured. The soil water retentivity and hydraulic conductivity are different in these fields.
