Summary: | The purposes of this research were (1) to examine the relationships between perceived role
ambiguity and turnover intention of employees working at a pulp and paper factory and (2) to study
the moderating role of problem-focused coping strategy in relationships between perceived role
ambiguity and turnover intention of those employees
The correlational research design was used. The sample was 300 factory workers. One
hundred percent of the questionnaire were return. Research instruments consisted of demographic
questionnaire, perceived role ambiguity scale, turnover intention scale and problem-focused coping
strategy scale. Data were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Hierarchical
Multiple Regression Analysis test by Frazier, Tix, and Barron (2004).
The research findings were as follows:
1. Perceived role ambiguity had a significantly positive correlation with turnover intention at
the .01 level (r = .168).
2 Problem-focused coping strategy had a significantly negative correlation with turnover
intention at the .01 level (r = -.277)
3. Problem-focused coping strategy could not be significantly a moderator in the relationship
between perceived role ambiguity and turnover intention |
