Genetic diversity within Lychee (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) based on RAPD analysis

An analysis of genetic variation within 20 lychee cultivars (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) was investigated using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) technique. Out of 69 arbitrary primers, five primers named OPB18, OPC09, OPAK10, OPAQ12 and OPASl0 produced reliable DNA polymorphism ranging in molecul...

Out of 69 arbitrary primers, five primers named OPB18, OPC09, OPAK10, OPAQ12 and OPASl0 produced reliable DNA polymorphism ranging in molecular weight from 200 to 2000 bp. DNA patterns from RAPD data were analyzed by cluster analysis and UPGMA to present a dendrogram depicting the degree of genetic relationship among the 20 cultivars. These cultivars were classified into 2 major groups with each containing three sub-groups. Our analysis revealed that some cultivars known as O-Hia and Haak Yip displayed identical fingerprint patterns indicating that it is the same cultivar, known under two different names. Others such as, Kwang Jao and Jean Hom, and Haew and Luk Lai exhibited a high similarity in their patterns, indicating a close genetic relationship. 2014-08-30T03:51:35Z 2014-08-30T03:51:35Z 2002 Conference Paper 9789066058859 05677572 http://www.scopus.com/inward/record.url?eid=2-s2.0-84879751825&partnerID=40&md5=fdb7b9bad946c9faa5b51ab33d8fb1dd http://cmuir.cmu.ac.th/handle/6653943832/7109 English
