Description
Summary:The managerial selection process should measure and distinct what the candidates can do and what the candidates will do. This is crucial that the selected candidates can deliver their responsibilities properly, which include: guarding the organization's mission and business goals and able to coach employee. The purpose of this research is to establish a model for managerial selection based on Personality and Preference Inventory (PAPI) test and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) as multi attribute decision making test. PAPI personality test instrument measures the candidate's personality in job situation (personality at work). The AHP converts these evaluations to numerical values that can be processed and compared over the candidates.<p>This research uses managerial selection criteria established by Ivancevich (2001), which are: educational background, professional work experience, health and physical appearance, and personality. A numerical weight or priority is derived for each category. The highest numerical weight (the most important criteria) goes to personality, following by others. The managerial selection model as a result of this research provides a comprehensive and rational framework for structuring, representing and quantifying criteria, for relating those criteria to overall goals, and for evaluating alternative solutions when it is needed. It helps the decision makers to find the one that best suits for them based on the traits and the need of the candidates.
