CO2 Removal system is simulated on HYSYS by using tray modeled Amine Contactor. <br /> <br /> <br /> Pabelokan Gas Plant has 2 Amine train unit (Unit I and II). In this final project, will be just discussed about Unit I because both of this 2 units is same and identic. The main sub-unit to absorb CO2 in natural gas until its content less than 5% is Amine contactor. In Amine contactor , there is packing and tray used as extender the contact area between lean MDEA and natural gas so that CO2 removed much more than without contact area extender. Used Lean MDEA is flowed by Amine HP Pump P-310 and P-315 used alternately for each month. <br /> <br /> <br /> In this final project, will be done the optimization of pump P-310. This optimization is done with reducing the rate of lean MDEA and reducing the speed of P-310 from 3570 rpm to 3200 rpm by modifying transmission system from the origin to belt and pulley system, with this way, input power to P-310 system will reduce too. But, reducing rate of lean MDEA is restricted to 960 gpm because minimum rate of pump P-310 is 949.5 gpm. If operating capacity is below 949.5 gpm, many problems will occur such as unsual high temperature motor will occur. Beside that, also be noted content of CO2 in natural gas caused by reducing rate of lean MDEA use HYSYS. Using HYSYS simulation, CO2 content in natural gas originally about 2.44% total mol fraction (approach actual content 2.46%) increase 0.58% become 3.02% mol fraction of outlet gas. Input power in actual speed 3570 rpm at 1100 gpm is 501.88 kW decrease 16.25 kW become 485.63 when rate of lean MDEA is reduced to 960 gpm. On the second optimization, input power consumption in 3200 rpm is 367.3 kW at 1100 gpm and 359 kW at 960 gpm. P-310 transmission modifying uses 10 wedge belt SPC 5300 and pulley SPC A2 with center distance is 1.72 metre between both motor and pump shaft. Shaft supporting bearing in the pulley side is cylindrical roller bearing type 02 with bore diameter 0.12 metre. text
