Description
Summary:Despite the important role in economic development of a country, micro, small, and

medium enterprises hardly survive the harsh business environment. Micro and

small size enterprises (MSEs) face the difficulty to withstand the highly

competition environment as they lack of resource, knowledge, and skill due to their

small size. To overcome the constraint in their development, they could not depend

on their own capacity and capability. Collaboration with other MSEs has become

the means for them to compensate shortcoming. This study intended to explore the

phenomena of collaborative business relationship between MSEs in food and

beverage industry located in Bandung, Indonesia. Qualitative approach using indepth

semi-structured interview is used in this study as it allowed researcher to

conduct a deep understanding analysis. The result of this study find that

collaboration is enacted because of MSEs lack of funds and marketing motive. The

advantages in doing collaboration is risk reduction, gaining access to bigger market,

and generating more profit. MSEs find communication, matching process, and

commitment as the challenge in collaborating.
