Description
Summary:Underground mine operation at Ciurug Vein is operated by Pongkor Gold Mine Business Units belongs to PT. Aneka Tambang, Tbk. is an underground mine located in hilly area. Ciurug gold vein mining starting from the elevation of 700 masl and at elevation 445 masl get problems in the presence of groundwater seepage. These seepage sources are hypothetically linked to regional groundwater associated with the Cikaniki River near the mine at 600 meters above sea level. The presence of seepages on Ciurug, especially at the elevation of Ciurug Selatan’s Cross Cut Ramp Down A and B elevation 445 masl and Ciurug Central elevation 457 masl have large discharge which has influenced the production process significantly. Therefore, a study is needed to characterize hydrogeological conditions in the Ciurug gold vein to gain a thorough understanding of the hydrogeological conditions associated with mine drainage designs to conquer groundwater in Ciurug Mine.

The fracture aquifer system in Ciurug gold vein area has rock masses that dominated by volcanic andesitic fractured with a fracture zone that cuts off the Cikaniki River. This location is thought to be the main recharge area for groundwater in this area. An inverse approach is made using the Gale equation method and the Thiem equation for the Unconfined Aquifer to obtain the hydraulic conductivity value of the rock mass by considering the total seepage and drawdown according to the progress of the mine.

The actual seepage discharge that emerges at 445 masl Ciurug Selatan Ramp Down A is 3.6 m3/min, Ramp Down B is 10.62 m3/min, and Ciurug Central at 457 masl is 1.86 m3

/min. The value of hydraulic conductivity is calculated for Ciurug Selatan of 1 x 10-6 m / sec up to 7.8 x 10-7 m / sec and Ciurug Sentral of 5.8 x 10-7 m / sec.

Estimated seepage discharge when mining is continued up to 400 masl at both mines, obtained at 19.68 m3/ min - 31.40 m3/ min at Ciurug Selatan and at 2.51 m3/ min - 4.01 m3/ min at Ciurug Central
