Summary: |
Aircraft maintenance scheduling is one of the major airline decisions during operation. Although aircraft maintenance scheduling is the final stage in an airline operation, it has the potential for cost savings. Sheduling problem is easy to understand but difficult to solve given the complexity of its flight schedule and the large number of assigned aircraft. Aircraft maintenance scheduling problem aims to determine which aircraft should fly as well as when and where each aircraft must undergo the various levels of checks required by the Federal Aviation Administration.
The goal is to minimize maintenance costs and expenses incurred during plane assignments in an airline route. This final project provides a formulation for scheduling treatments and a heuristic approach to solve the problem. The heuristic procedure provides a good solution within a reasonable computation time. This model can be used by medium-sized companies to optimize their maintenance costs.
