Summary:Terminal 2 of Hang Nadim International Airport is located in Batam, has a capacity of 8 million passengers per annum with 2,600 international typically passenger peak hours and 2,900 domestic typically passenger peak hours. The project is held by BP Batam with the aim of meeting the needs of the increasing flight passengers demand. Hang Nadim Airport is a class 4E airport which will be an international hub for Indonesian airlines and operates 24 hours a day. This terminal building with 88,000 square meters coverage is designed with unique arc steel structure system as a modern expression of the city of Batam as a city of trade and industrial investment. The main concept of project is ‘Intuitive Wayfinding through Spatial Experience’, expecting passengers can enjoy a pleasant flight with the pre-flight process easy and convenient. In this project, there are design approaches by function, shape, and construction which seeks to achieve a balance in turning the terminal building into representation of Batam, provides a comfortable experience for passengers by shortening the walk distance, as well as ease of the terminal construction. Terminal 2 Hang Nadim International Airport is designated to be part of Eco Airport, announced by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The concept of Eco Airport achieved through the optimization of natural lighting during the day and the use of energy-efficient air conditioning system in the terminal building.
