Improve loading system in question is the gradual loading. With the gradual loading is expected to increase the bearing capacity of the subgrade over time and compression that occurs. Due to time constraints of construction, then in the process of increasing the bearing capacity of soil is used prefabricated vertical drain that process happen faster. Meanwhile, to improve the condition of the subgrade is to install something on the ground, one of them is by installing a stone column under the pile that aims to improve soil strength. This final report discusses the comparison between the two methods of soil improvement is prefabricated vertical drains and stone column is modeled in plane strain field using PLAXIS 2D software. In the modeling of prefabricated vertical drains and stone column in plane strain fields necessary adjustments few parameters in order to obtain the results of modeling that can present the real situation on the ground. These parameters are stiffness improved soil, stone column stiffness, and soil permeability improved by prefabricated vertical drain, as well as the geometry of a stone column diameter and spacing adjustments between stone column. Modeling results have shown that the improvement using stone column can decrease the settlement and accelerate the consolidation process significantly compared soil improvement using prefabricated vertical drains with preloading. text |
