For students who have low vision, the remainder of this vision can be used to maximize the process of learning activities such as reading and writing using reading aids. In addition, the vision conditions of low vision students also influence the placement of schools, so that there is a possibility that there is a school in a public school or in a special school. For low vision students who study in public schools, the problem generally faced is the limited access to information on subject matter written on the board, because he gets the same treatment with other students. Therefore the use of assistive devices is an important thing to be able to participate in learning activities. But because of economic factors not all low vision students can have it, besides that from the aspect of its use even the tools that have been used so far have disadvantages such as the use of less practical and tiring. This research was conducted to find out the needs and obstacles of low vision students during learning activities in public schools and look for product development innovation opportunities to design a tool that is better than before. The design concept developed by the author is a hands-free reading aid with the principle of optical magnification by adapting the Galilean binocular scheme. text |
