Summary: | PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PT DI), a state-owned enterprises (BUMN) in Indonesia, mainly produces airplane and helicopter. NC-212i becomes the most favourite airplane in 2019. Based on latest data, PT DI is not yet accomplish their target within 2 months. It took 4 months for Final Assembly Line (FAL) Division to produce a unit of NC-212i. Based on analysis, low utilization of the operator is the root cause of this problem. This research aims to decide which model and assignment method of operator in assembly line that suitable to achieve production target and maximize operator’s utilization.
Methods used in this research were analytical model and heuristic procedure. Analytical model is used to minimize total operator idle time considering the operator’s skill level. CPLEX Optimization Studio 12.9.0 is used to execute this model. Heuristic procedure is developed to accommodate data processing that can not be done using analytical model. Several steps describing mathematical equation used in analytical model construct this procedure. Solution resulted in this research are operator assignment and operation’s start time.
Computation is done for every work station. Operator is reduced from 46 to 38 in actual use. This reduction cause operator’s utilization to increase. Average operator utilization increases from 41% to 82,32%. |
