Description
Summary:In order to achieve company's vision, PT DI needs to take continuous improvement action to solve production sector problems which is the core business of the company. One of the problems that can be solved is the unfulfillment annual demand problem as happened in the MK-II fuselage component assembly line. To increase the production rate from 3 units per year to 4 units per year, the cycle time have to reduced from 512.59 hours to 400 hours. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze labor requirement of fuselage component that can meet annual demand. The model used in this study is Mixed Integer Linear Programming. This model output are workers assignment at work stations and tasks scheduling. The objective function is to minimize the number of workers. Inputs for this model are tasks data and tasks completion time, precedence constraints, jigs data, and number of workers needed to do each task. Computation is done using IBM ILOG CPLEX Optimization Studio version 12.7.1.0. Computation is performed on each jig due to large computation time. The solution successfully reduced assembly line cycle time from 512.59 hours to 328.50 hours, the number of workers from 49 people to 44 people, and the smoothness index from 1,071.84 to 545.20.
