| Summary: | Music is one of important aspect of human life, whether it is intended as an entertainment or as a media of communication. Jazz music--which was originated from Afro-American culture-- was spread not only throughout America and Europe but also to Indonesia as an impact from colonization. However, the development of jazz in Indonesia is inharmonious with a good supporting performance art facility. Most of the times the performance are not performed in the proper space. In other words, it is important to preserve every single aspects of jazz music in Indonesia. This effort could be done by fusing together local culture and Western culture to break the stigma that jazz is an “elite music”. |
