Mining activities is carried out using a Volvo EC460BLC excavator as a digging tool and a Volvo A40F articulated dump truck as a hauling tool. Nickel ore mining is an important activity for PT XYZ Nickel North Maluku. From field observations, there are still queues for the Volvo A40F articulated dump truck when loading process happened. It causes loading and hauling process become less effective and loading and hauling costs become high, Therefore, in this study, optimization will be carried out so that mining activities become more effective. In this study, field data collected are cycle time of the Volvo EC460BLC excavator and Volvo A40F articulated dump truck, and the working hours efficiency. In addition, some secondary data are used such as stockpile capacity, daily production targets, fuel uses for the Volvo EC460BLC excavator and Volvo A40F articulated dump truck, and fuel prices. In this study, two scenarios are used with different stockpile combinations, so we can get the lowest loading and hauling cost with the most ideal match factor. Scenario one uses two transportation routes from front M to stockpile B and C, while scenario two uses two transportation routes from front M to stockpile A and C. The results of the analysis show that scenario two has the lowest loading and hauling cost with the most ideal match factor. Scenario one that uses two transportation routes from front M to stockpile B and C has digging cost of Rp. 13.823,24 /ton and match factor value of 0.763 by using one dig-load tool and five hauling tools and by using one dig-load tool and five hauling tools. While, scenario two that uses two transportation routes from front M to stockpile A and C has digging cost of Rp. 11.746,94 /ton and a match factor value of 0.808 by using one dig-load tool and four hauling tools and using one dig-load tool and five hauling tools. text
