Summary: | Red Curly Chili (Capsicum annum L.) is one of the most popular vegetable
commodities in Indonesia. High production but not accompanied by stable prices.
Process flow engineering is needed at the farmer and trader level to manage chili
supplies in the market. Saving and efficient storage media can be an alternative
storage for farmers. One of them is zeer pot. This storage uses the principle of
absorption of heat by pots and water and the presence of a gunny sack cooling
medium. In addition, the addition of activated carbon can also inhibit the process
of decreasing the quality of stored chilies. This study aims to determine the effect
of storing curly red chilies in zeer pots with burlap media during storage and to
determine the best variation of the form of activated carbon used (pellets, powder,
and granules). The research carried out on Bandung City, and some of the tests
were carried out at the Biomass Analysis Laboratory of the ITB Jatingangor
campus from April to June 2021. This study used a randomized block design (RAK)
with six treatment variations, namely variations of activated carbon (pellets).
powder and granule), without activated carbon, without burlap sack media and
activated carbon, as well as external storage treatment. The results obtained are
that there is a significant effect between storage with zeer pots and external storage,
but storage of zeer pots with cooling media has no significant effect on zeer pot
storage without cooling media. The treatment between variations of activated
carbon also has an effect but is not significant. The best variation of activated
carbon is the granule form. |
