While dyslexia is not correlated with intelligence, the left frontal lobe of a dyslexic’s brain can suffer some abnormality that impacts reading and writing. Learning impediment stemming from dyslexia is quite common globally, where roughly 10% of the population of Indonesian children suffer from it. Dyslexia is not a permanent condition per se as solutions exist, including helping dyslexic children grow their literacy skills through a multisensory approach. Yet, currently literacy learning tools for dyslexic children are limited due to a lack of research or understanding of dyslexia and dyslexics. Hence the inspiration for this research study to plan and create an interactive storybook application to support literacy growth among dyslexic children using a multisensory approach. In developing this interactive book application, the ‘double diamond’ method is used, which iterates between the stages of discovering, defining, developing, and delivering. Such a creation of an interactive book application serves to resolve the issue of a lack of alternative literacy tools for reading and writing in Bahasa Indonesia or a lack of access to such tools. This interactive book application also provides visual content narration that supports the sequential recognition and learning among dyslexic children, in this case, the concept of sequence of days and their names. This mobile application creation involves elements of visual narration combined with user experience. By utilizing such visual narration features as text, illustration, animation, and sound combined with a user experience involving interactivity and user interface, this interactive book application can support the mastery of reading and writing skills effectively. Offering a multisensory capability (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, tactile) is proven effective in teaching and training up literacy skills among dyslexic children. In addition, this interactive book application builds in capability to increase reading motivation among dyslexic children through gamification and interactivity. text
