SYNTHESIS OF AMINOPROPYL AND PROPYLDIETHYLENETRIAMINE MODIFIED SILICA AND COMPARISON OF THEIR PERFORMANCE FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY COLUMNS
Fructose, glucose, sucrose, maltose, and lactose are sugars that are often found in food and beverage products. However, the determination of sugar levels with High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) using modified propylamine silica stationary phase give a low resolution. Therefore, in this s...

Therefore, in this study developed a silica that modified aminopropyl and propildiethylentriamine. The synthesis of silica in this study was performed followed the Stober method using tetraethylortosilicate (TEOS) as a precursor that was subsequently modified with the amino compounds. The modification of silica-amines is has been conducted by two different methods. Based on FTIR data, silica-aminopropyl modifications were successfully carried out that were characterized by the appeares of vibrations N-H at 1650 cm- 1 and C-H at 2935 cm-1. However, silica-propildiethylentriamin modifications have not been successfully performed with both methods, and it was shown by the absence of N-H vibration. The SEM image showed that silica, silica-aminopropyl, and silika-propildiethylentriamin of both methods had a spherical shape with sizes ranging from 1-2 ?m. The silica-aminopropyl column successfully separate sugars in the following separation order: fructose-glucose- sucrose-maltose-lactose. text |
