Electronic prescription can minimize the incidence of medication errors and reduce waiting time. This study was conducted to compare paper-based prescription and electronic prescription on medication errors, waiting time, and the level of patient and doctor satisfaction using a mixed-method analytic observational method with cross-sectional study design. Data was collected prospectively using prescription review and SERVQUAL questionnaire to measure the level of patient and doctor satisfaction. Qualitative data was analized using Chi-Square and quantitative data was analized using Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test. Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) is calculated to determine the level of patient and doctor satisfaction. The results showed that the average number of medication errors was higher in paper-based prescriptions (10.66%) compared to electronic prescriptions (5.82%). The waiting time was longer for paper-based prescriptions with an average of 10 minutes 10 seconds compared to the average waiting time for electronic prescriptions which is 8 minutes 23 seconds. The level of patient satisfaction with pharmaceutical services was higher in paper-based prescriptions (93.2) with very satisfied criteria compared to electronic prescriptions (90.9) with very satisfied criteria. The level of doctor satisfaction with the implementation of electronic prescribing showed a satisfaction level of 78.15 with satisfied criteria. The results showed that the implementation of electronic prescriptions in one of the clinics in Bandung is better than paper prescriptions. text
