USE OF BORED PILED AS A METHOD OF STRENGTHENING BUILDING FOUNDATIONS.CASE STUDY : MARGATIGA DAM, LAMPUNG

The design of a dam must meet four main criteria: being safe from structural failure, safe from hydraulic failure, safe from failure due to seepage, and safe from operational and maintenance failures of the dam (Centre for Education and Training in Water Resources and Construction, 2017). The det...

The determination of the foundation structure must take into account the geological or subsurface rock conditions and the structural loads that must be borne by the foundation. The purpose of this study is to determine the type of foundation needed based on the correlation between subsurface conditions and the type of structural load that the foundation will carry and to provide analysis regarding the type of foundation used as reinforcement in buildings. The analytical method is carried out by in-situ tests in the form of Pressure Metre tests (PMT) and Standard Penetration tests (SPT), as well as the calculation of foundation bearing capacity analysis using bore piles. PMT results show that PMT 1, or the location of the intake gate area, has a maximum pressure value of 0.16–1.22 MPa, PMT 2, or the spillway area, has a maximum pressure value of 2.57–7.40 MPa, and PMT 3, or DPT Right, has a maximum pressure value of 0.63–5.2 MPa. The SPT results show that rock with dense density is found in tuffaceous sandstone layers with an SPT value of >50 at the intake gate area at an elevation of -2.159, the spillway area at an elevation of +1.23, and the right DPT area at an elevation of 0.0. The results of the calculation of the bore pile foundation with a safety factor of 2.5 show that the total piles needed at the intake area are 156 piles, the Spillway 1 and 2 areas are 196 piles, and the Right DPT area is 64 piles. text
