ANALYSIS OF MANAGEMENT AND FACTORS INFLUENCING THE BEHAVIORAL INTENTION OF NEAR MISS REPORTING IN GEOTHERMAL POWER PLANT (CASE STUDY: PT. X, BANDUNG REGENCY )
Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) activities cannot be separated from the risk of work accidents. Near misses are the precursors of work accidents, therefore it is necessary to have awareness of workers in reporting incidents and proper management to prevent serious accidents in the future. description |
Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) activities cannot be separated from the risk of
work accidents. Near misses are the precursors of work accidents, therefore it
is necessary to have awareness of workers in reporting incidents and proper
management to prevent serious accidents in the future. This study aims to
determine the reported near misses, factors that influence the behavioral
intention to report near misses, manage reported near misses, and provide
intervention recommendations on factors that influence the behavioral intention
to report near misses and near misses that occur in PT. X. This study uses a
mixed method with a questionnaire method, focus group discussion, with
workers, observations and interviews to see the behavioral intentions of
reporting workers and management of near misses at PT.X. The variables used
to determine the behavioral intention of reporting near misses are internal
factors in the form of demographics, namely age, gender, years of service,
education, training and history of accidents, incidents and near misses with the
attitude of workers as mediators and external factors in the form of management
support and supervisors. safety performance pressure, fear of punishment and
social perception in the work environment. Validity and reliability tests were
carried out before distributing the questionnaires. After the questionnaire was
declared valid and reliable, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 160
workers with a response rate of (90.39%). After that, a Focus Group Discussion
was held with worker representatives without managerial assistance so that
workers were more flexible in expressing their perspectives. Questionnaire
results will be analyzed with Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling
(PLS-SEM) using SmartPLS 3.0 software with the aim of verifying the model
with validity and reliability tests and testing research hypotheses and recorded
transcripts of Focus Group Discussion results and will be analyzed using
content analysis with NVivo ver. 12® to explore further the themes that emerged
in the FGDs. Based on the results of the analysis of the questionnaire and Focus Group Discussion, it shows that there is a significant influence on internal
factors, such as years of service at PLTP, recent education, near miss training,
attitudes, and external factors, such as management support and supervisors,
fear of punishment, and social perceptions in work environment on workers'
intentions to report near misses at PT.X and attitudes can be a good mediator
for behavioral intentions to report near misses at PT.X. The management of
reported near misses will be analyzed using the Risk Register 5x5 PT.X, and it
will be found that the reported near misses have 3 low risk levels, 1 medium risk
level, and 4 high risk levels. Intervention recommendations that can be given to
promote reporting of near misses in the PT.X are that management can provide
in-depth education to new workers and workers who have a low level of
education, provide special training on near misses, make near miss reporting
features easy and simple, explaining clearly that there is no blame culture in the
reporting system, and finally management can build synergy and solidarity in
each division through several programs. Intervention recommendations that can
be given for near misses reported at PT.X are always carrying out regular
inspections and maintenance of equipment, ensuring that electrical equipment
and power cables are at a safe distance so that they are not easily accessible by
other activities, providing appropriate education and training to every worker
and always pay attention to good housekeeping in the entire work environment of PT.X. |
