RH Petrogas is one of the oil and gas companies operating the North Klalin field which has potential oil and gas resources such as the Kais formation. The latest study shows that there are potential gas reserves of 93 BCF in the North Klalin field, while cumulative production until December 2022 was 21.7 BCF or equivalent to a recovery factor of 23%. This means there is still 30-40% gas potential that can still be produced. This study aims to select the best solution for the Kais formation treatment by defining several criteria such as cost, additional reserves, risk, job duration, and profit. The process starts by analysing the available data from subsurface data, existing wells and technical aspects to determine the root cause of the problem which is discussed through brainstorming with subject matter experts who are directly involved in the calculation of potential reserves and determination of alternative solutions. The next stage is to run a super decision by considering the existing criteria until the best solution is found which is later decided to be implemented based on economic parameters. There are three alternative solutions, namely well intervention, workover, and infill drilling by considering cost, work duration, additional reserves, risk, and profit. Based on AHP method, the main criterion is profit which gives 45% influence on the decision, then other criteria such as additional reserves give 37% influence, followed by cost, risk, and work duration. By considering these criteria, the super decision produces the best alternative solution which is workover with perforation. This treatment solution provides an estimated additional oil/condensate of 50 BOPD and generates an NPV of $190,163 with a payback period of 3 months. From the AHP results, it can be concluded that the selection of a good alternative solution is traced based on the root of the problem and then the solution is selected by considering the factors that affect the decision. Good economic parameters are also key in making work implementation decisions. text |
