Summary: | Chlorococcum sp. could accumulate lipid up to 30.55% of its dry weight. To enhance growth, cultivation is carried out by adding organic carbon sources to the cultivation medium. In this study, cultivation of Chlorococcum sp. is carried off by photoautotrophs using 1 g/L NPK medium and followed by photoheterotrophs by adding 3 g/L glucose, fructose, and sucrose as carbon sources. The growth conditions are as follow: initial inoculum 105 cells/ml, temperature 27oC, photoperiod light:dark 16:8, air flow rate = 0.8 L/min, and light intensity 100 ?mol/m2/s. Growth parameters observed are pH, cell concentration, dry cell weight, lipid fraction, lipid concentration, specific growth rate, generation time, and substrate consumption profile (sugar, ammonia, and phosphate). This study aims to (1) compare the growth parameters of photoautotrophic and photoheterotrophic cultivation; (2) determine the most optimum sugar for lipid accumulation in the photoheterotroph cultivation of Chlorococcum sp., (3) modeling the growth of Chlorococcum sp. using a Logistics model. Mathematical model is done by numerical approach using the 4th order Runge-Kutta method in MATLAB 2023a software. The results obtained were (1) the accumulation of lipids by photoheterotroph glucose was higher (33.9%) than photoautotroph cultivation (22.0%); (2) photoheterotroph with glucose yields highest lipid accumulation (33.9%) (3) cultivation of Chlorococcum sp. photoautotrophs and photoheterotrophs can be modeled using the Logistic equation with R2 values close to 1 (0.90 – 0.98) and small RMSE values (0.01-0.06).
