Summary: | This research paper analyzes the current state of halal traceability in the meat industry value chain and identifies opportunities for improvement in ensuring the authenticity and transparency of halal products. The research problem is addressed by using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) with 2D barcode, passive RFID, and NFC as alternatives to identify the best data-recording technology for halal traceability.
Based on thorough literature reviews and consultation with industry experts, four criteria were identified for the AHP analysis: accuracy, cost, readability, and halal information compatibility. The decision to use these criteria was made to ensure that the analysis focused on the most important factors for halal traceability.
After conducting the AHP analysis, the finding shows that RFID technology is the best data-recording technology for halal traceability in the meat industry value chain. The decision was based on its high accuracy, relatively low cost, and high readability compared to the other alternatives. Moreover, RFID technology is compatible with halal information, making it the most suitable technology for ensuring the authenticity and transparency of halal products.
An implementation plan for RFID technology in the halal meat industry value chain is proposed, which involves a feasibility study, a pilot project, stakeholder training, and continuous monitoring and evaluation. It is recommended that the government provides subsidies to facilitate the adoption of RFID technology by SMEs in the halal meat industry. This will encourage more businesses to adopt the technology and promote greater transparency and traceability in the industry.
The results of this research paper can provide valuable insights to businesses in the halal meat industry in Indonesia and other countries facing similar challenges. The use of AHP analysis can also be applied to other industries to identify the best data-recording technology for traceability purposes.
