Description
Summary:The low achievement in mathematics learning is attributed to the underutilization of learning media and the continued focus on individual-based learning methods. Gamification and collaborative learning can offer a solution; however, the collaborative dynamics in learning have the potential to negatively impact engagement and motivation due to the individual need for recognition of their contributions within the team. This study focuses on the development and implementation of a collaborative multiplayer gamification design in peer learning within a smart learning environment. The design integrates elements of collaborative gamification, peer learning, peer assessment, and fuzzy logic to address the individual need for recognition of contributions within the team in quiz- based educational games. The Design Research Methodology (DRM) is employed as the research methodology, with testing conducted using a pretest-posttest control group design, and surveys administered based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The evaluation results indicate that the implementation of the collaborative multiplayer gamification design in quiz-based educational applications has a positive and significant impact on user motivation and learning outcomes.
