Summary: | This study aimed at analyzing grammatical cohesion devices used by junior high school hearing-impaired students at the second grades, in their Indonesian descriptive compositions. In this study, the writer asked the participants to write their own descriptive composition based on three sequences picture with different topic. Then, the writer analyzed the findings with the theory of grammatical cohesion devices proposed by Alwi, et. al (2003). Based on the data analysis, the writer found that not all participants used all types of grammatical cohesion devices; those are reference, ellipsis, conjunction. The most frequent type of grammatical cohesion devices used by the participants was conjunction. The most frequent type of conjunction which appeared on participants’ composition was additive conjunction, that is the ‘and’ relation. |
